An unnamed Chelsea player told the Daily Mail: “He is trying so hard, it is like he is in the gym every hour of the day.”
Mykhaylo Mudryk is yet to register a single goal since making his big money move to Chelsea last January, joining from Shakhtar Donetsk for £87 million. He joins the long list of signings which new Chelsea owner, Todd Boehly has invested in since taking the reign at the beginning of last season in which a number of the signings, including Mudryk, have really struggled to settle into the English game.
Blues boss, Mauricio Pochettino, acknowledges that Mudryk is putting in the hard graft to get back in form; “Trust me Mudryk is really making a massive effort to try to integrate himself,” said Pochettino.
“He’s trying to understand better what it means to play like a team but he is young.”
“For sure he is going to improve. We are so happy with how he is improving.” Quotes via the Metro
Mudryk has started the last three matches for Chelsea in all competitions but has failed to have a real impact on the games, being taken off around the 60th minute mark in all games. But the Ukrainian will hope this evening at Craven Cottage he’ll get the opportunity from Pochettino to allow his recent hard work to pay off.
Pochettino acknowledges that Mudryk is lacking in confidence right now and reiterates how hard it can be to get back on track, “The problem with confidence is we cannot buy it in the supermarket… It is about time. You know how the brain works. It is about little by little creating situations that can provide trust and confidence and belief.”
Fulham host Chelsea this evening at eight o’clock in the Premier League, 15th placed Chelsea will look to get their second win of the season and leap frog 12th placed Fulham.
The last time Mudryk came up against Fulham was for his full debut way back in February, however was hooked at halftime by ex boss Graham Potter. He’ll be hoping for a much better game against the fellow west Londoners this evening and he’ll be determined to end his goalscoring draught to help kick start his Chelsea career.
