Liverpool 0–0 Manchester United- Match Report

United missed two golden chanceswith Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba late on, Alisson first denying Fernandes with his foot, and then Pogba wasted the chance of the game, firing straight at the keeper from 8 yards.
The hosts unsurprisingly came out of the traps the fastest, as they usually do at Anfield, with United limited to barely any promising possession in the opening third of the game.
Liverpool, and in particular Roberto Firmino, were wasteful early on with the Brazilian shooting wayward from distance instead of rolling in the marauding Andy Robertson. Xherdan Shaqiri had a couple of sighters at goal but nothing to worry David De Gea.
Liverpool’s only shot on target in the second half was a long-distance drive by Thiago which forced De Gea into a theatrical save.
United’s first sight of goal came just after the half-hour mark with Bruno Fernandes’ 25-yard free kick landing just the wrong side of the post with Alisson well beaten. United struggled to find the final pass with seven offsides given in the first half for Solskjaer’s side, four of those saw Marcus Rashford penalised.
It was a poor game with neither side at their best, Liverpool looked a shadow of their former self and have now gone three games in a row without scoring. However, Klopp will be pleased with his makeshift centre back pairing. Both sides will look to get back to winning ways in their midweek fixtures.
