Phillies manager Rob Thomson challenges his team to “not let up” and win an important game two, despite a 3-0 win over the Atlanta Braves.
Some defensive magic in the eighth inning by star shortstop Trea Turner and a stellar pitching performance all-round led to the Phillies shutting down the Braves on their way to a game one victory.
Phillies’ Superstar Bryce Harper notes the Braves “are one of the best teams at it” emphasising the importance of taking a win on the road in game one.
Phillies’ catcher JT Realmuto credits the pitching staff for being “incredible” noting they have a lot of pitchers who “throw great stuff”.
The sentiment around the Braves clubhouse is “regroup and try to win game two on Monday” a statement echoed by manager Brian Snitker and star players Spencer Strider and Matt Olson. Though Snitker credits Phillies’ pitchers for “shutting our hitters down”.
Snitker acknowledges his team have to put in the work to be ready to face game two and three starters for the Phillies, Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola; who he refers to as “two of the best in the game”.
