George Williams reports from New York Jets Media Day, Friday, October 4

The atmosphere during the New York Jets practice camp was bouncy and vibrant, with nobody showing signs of jet lag despite the 8am arrival in England this morning. Loud music was playing out of the speakers as everyone looked excited and ready to go.

Practice was split into sections of the field with each section focusing on their duties. Quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers, Tyrod Taylor and Adrian Martinez all warmed up by practicing taking a snap, and then their throws both long and short.

Jets fans will be happy that Rodgers trained due to injury concerns arising from the last game. After throwing for 225 yards last Sunday, Rodgers is just 96 yards shy of hitting 60,000 yards for his career, a stat he’d love to achieve in London.

The wide receivers worked on their catching of the ball out wide and along the line, shimmying through cones and then demanding the ball be thrown to them. Garret Wilson was particularly impressive. His chemistry with Rodgers will be indispensable if the Jets want to be victorious.

At a point in practice Coach Saleh called all players in to form a massive huddle in the center of the field. Not much was heard about what he said but a loud cheer from the players shows that morale is high in the camp despite the up and down start to the season.

Hopefully the long walk down the hill at Hanbury Manor would have boosted confidence to allow the Jets to rise in the NFL standings.
