Home   /   PREVIEW: Arsenal v Southampton

Arsenal are hopeful of continuing their unbeaten run against newly promoted Southampton. The Saints still can’t rely on Jack Stephens who completed his three-game suspension for a red card against Manchester United, but was given another two-game ban for insulting the referee. Southampton’s manager described the situation as “disappointing” and having to “accept the decision and apologise.” Martin’s job is on the line as Southampton are still winless and struggling to find their best form this season.

Despite Southampton’s unconvincing start to the season, Mikel Arteta praised Martin’s team for having “a clear identity and vision”. Arteta finally has Mikel Merino available for Premier League action, for the first time since his arrival this summer. The Gunners are still without their captain Martin Odegaard, who Arteta mentioned as “too impactful to replicate.” Arsenal had to adapt and find other alternatives and adjust their playing style in their last few games. Leandro Trossard, Odegaard’s replacement, is in excellent form as he registered two goals and one assist since his red card against Manchester City.

Both teams are known for their attacking and possession-based style, hence, fans can expect an entertaining game with no shortage of goals.
