Real Sociedad and Manchester United face off in the final Group E game in the Europa League. Sitting three points behind their opponents, United will need to win by two clear goals to leapfrog Sociedad and top the group.
United will be looking to extend their unbeaten run in all competitions to nine games, however the likes of Raphael Varane, Anthony Martial and Jadon Sancho are all unavailable, adding to the challenge that awaits them in San Sebastian.
United manager Erik Ten Hag is keen to build on their recent form and told the Manchester Evening News that “we know its difficult to win games here, but we like the challenge”.
Sociedad have been flawless in the Europa League, winning all five of their group games, conceding only one goal, which is the fewest in all the Europa League groups.
The Spaniards are missing several key players, including former Manchester City midfielder David Silva, and have lost back-to-back games in La Liga. However, Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino told Marca that “we want to show the best version of ourselves to be able to score or win against one of the best teams in the world”.
