After West Ham’s 3-2 defeat to Brighton, manager Rehanne Skinner praised her team’s resilience but lamented missed opportunities.
“I’m really proud of the players and pleased with everything they put in today. We showed great character to come back from 2-0 down, and we were the better team in the second half in front of goal. We had some great chances but we didn’t capitalise when we could’ve made things difficult for Brighton.”
Conceding the late winner was a “massive blow” for Skinner, who felt her side deserved more than what they achieved.
“We deserved something from the game, but it’s disappointing we didn’t get any points.”
Skinner also addressed the injury to Katrina Gorry, a key player in West Ham’s fightback:
“We need a thorough medical assessment to understand the full extent of her injury.”
Overall, Skinner remains optimistic, taking positives from the team’s attacking performances despite the unfortunate loss.

Brighton Manager, Dario Vidosic praised the Seagulls’ resilience, highlighting their quick response to conceding two goals:
“After conceding two unfortunate goals, we immediately responded, kept playing our football and scored a beautiful third.”
However, Vidosic acknowledged the need for better game management when leading:
“We must learn to manage games better at 2-0 up. Overall it was a fantastic response, and we’ll keep improving.”
This comeback spirit, mixed with areas for growth, sets the tone for Brighton’s development this season, especially as they look ahead to tougher fixtures.
