Home   /   Relegation Battle: Swords drawn until the last day

It is a dogfight at the bottom of the Premier League table as we approach the final week of the season. Leeds, Burnley and Everton are all at risk of falling into England’s second tier. Burnley currently sit in the final relegation spot, Watford and Norwich have already been relegated so there is only one spot to avoid. Burnley have 34 points, having played 36 games, Leeds have 35 points after 37 games and Everton have 36 points after 36 games. T

The games in hand that Burnley and Everton could prove crucial in avoiding relegation, Burnley have to face Aston Villa and finish the season against Eddie Howe’s rejuvenated Newcastle, two extremely tough games to end their season and they will be hoping home advantage in their game against Newcastle will give them the extra motivation to not want to get relegated in front of their own fans.

Meanwhile, Everton host Crystal Palace and then are away to Arsenal on the final day of the season, which is on paper, the most difficult fixture any of the sides have left with Arteta’s men still having hopes of finishing in the Champions League places. A win against Crystal Palace will see them safe from relegation so Everton fans will have their fingers crossed they are able to complete the job before the final day.

Having just one game left, Leeds travel to Brentford in the game which they hang all of their hopes on, Brentford sit comfortably in 11th place and have impressed all season long having been tipped for relegation themselves at the start of the season. Without the Elland Road crowd behind them to drive them on, I tip Leeds to be the team relegated come Sunday evening as I feel they lack the quality that Burnley have defensively and I think Everton will be safe prior to the final match.
