Brighton propelled themselves up to 2nd place in the WSL after a 1-0 win against Leicester at the Broadfield Stadium this Sunday.

A solo Nikita Parris strike was enough for the home side as they put on a commanding performance, which has become customary since Dario Vidosic was appointed head coach in the summer.

The Seagulls dictated possession and made their domination count, breaking the deadlock in the 20th minute.

Parris latched on to Jorelyn Carabali’s deflected cross to head off the bar and into the bottom corner.

The striker continues an impressive run of scoring at home this season, her third goal in as many games.

The last time the former Manchester United player matched this run of form was in October 2018, when she was playing for United’s rivals Manchester City.

A lackluster second half from both sides saw Foxes defender Sam Tierney stretchered off injured as Albion created an abundance of chances, ultimately failing to convert.

In the pursuit of a second, Parris could only fire wide, while Carabali saw a speculative long shot sail over the bar.

A late penalty appeal for a barge on Madison Haley was waved away by the referee.

The victory puts Brighton three points behind league leaders Manchester City, with a crucial game away at Arsenal up next.

Leicester, who recorded only a single shot on target in the match, dropped to 8th and will be hoping for better against bottom of the league West Ham.
