Brighton overcame a second half scare to win 3-2 against West Ham at the Amex.

Fran Kirby’s 82nd minute strike ensured it was the home side who took all three points from an electric contest on the south coast.

The Seagull’s summer signing showed control and calmness to place her shot low past Kinga Szemik, netting her third of the season.

The Hammers had fought back with two quick-fire goals courtesy of Katrina Gorry.

The Irons captain’s first goal came in the 64th minute, moments after she hit the crossbar.

Five minutes later, Gorry picked Vicky Losada’s pocket and struck beyond a helpless Sophie Baggaley to level for the Londoners.

She was then substituted due to sustaining an injury.

Rachel McLauchlan’s first goal for the Seagulls since joining from Rangers in the summer broke the deadlock on the half-hour mark.

The Scottish international cut inside and bent her strike into the bottom corner, after Fran Kirby’s silky backheel played her through.

Kiko Seike doubled Albions’ lead in the 60th minute with a low first-time finish, assisted by McLauchlan.

It was the Japanese attacker’s first goal since she bagged a hat-trick on the opening day.

The result keeps Brighton in third place.
