Brighton maintained 3rd spot with a 3-2 win at home against West Ham, but it wasn’t without incident. Both sides looked to get an early advantage in the game, but it was Brighton who had the first attempt when Poppy Pattinson had a shot, but it was straight into Kinga Szemik’s hands.
The Seagulls took the lead with a strike from Rachel McLauchlan to score her first goal for Brighton just before the half hour mark, from a Fran Kirby through ball, which McLauchlan curled around Szemik’s outstretched hand.
The Seagulls started the second half brightly with efforts from Parris and Seike but it was West Ham who had the best effort early in the second half. Seraina Piubel forced the ball over the bar from a Riko Ueki header.
The Albion made it 2-0 after 60 mins with a goal from Kiko Seike from a McLauchlan cross. Soon after though, Hammers’ captain Katrina Gorry scored twice in five minutes to make it 2-2. The Albion made it 3-2 with a goal for Kirby who scored from just inside the box from a cross from Seike, and they managed to hold on to gain an important win.
