This Sunday there is a huge game in the relegation battle in the Premier League as Brighton will be hoping to extend the distance between themselves and Fulham who are in 18th, while Southampton will be hoping to win and not get sucked into the relegation battle after a poor run of form.
Last time the two teams played each other was in December when Southampton overturned a Pascal Groß penalty to win 2-1, thanks to a goal from Jannik Vestergaard and a Danny Ings penalty.
This win put Southampton into fifth place in the Premier League at the time and Saints fans started to believe they could challenge for a European place at the end of the season.
But since then they have been on a terrible run off form that includes losing to Manchester United 9-0 at Old Trafford.

In Southampton’s last game they lost to Manchester City away from home 5-2. Southampton will be happy with scoring two goals in the game as they were missing their top goalscorer Ings. However they still have defensive problems.
In Brighton’s last game they lost to Leicester City thanks to a late goal from Daniel Amartey in the 87th min.
Southampton have got a fantastic record against Brighton in the Premier League as they have never lost to the The Seagulls.
However Southampton have only won two games in the Premier League since the turn of the new year and have only scored 10 goals in that period of time.
Southampton have further problems as their main goalscorer, Ings, suffered a muscular injury in their game against Sheffield United last Saturday.
This means pressure will be on Che Adams to be Southampton’s main goalscorer. Adams has scored six goals this season, but in both of his last two games, which will bring him some confidence.

If Brighton lose to Southampton, Fulham have a chance in overtaking them in the Premier League table, which means the Seagulls could fall into the relegation zone.
Brighton’s main problem in recent times is that they can not seem to find the back of the net.
Their top goalscorer this season is Neal Maupay with seven goals, and their second-top goalscorer is the club captain Lewis Dunk, who is a centre back, with three.
Brighton will be hoping for someone in their team can start scoring goals and get them out of their relegation battle.
However a positive for Brighton is their defensive record as they have only conceded 35 goals all season, one less than the reigning champions Liverpool.

These two teams knows how important this game is for their season as a positive result will do wonders for their chances in staying in the Premier League for next season.
