Home   /   The ultimate lazy morning routine

If you’re anything like me, you are constantly wishing to be more on time.

Life is exhausting, so prioritising your sleep and downtime, especially before you start your day, is crucial. To do this, you need to have the most efficient morning routine to get you out the door.

Here are five ways you can speed up your morning routine. And if you’re a morning showerer – this article is not for you. You haven’t achieved peak laziness yet.

1. The calm before the morn

I’m a little hypocritical for this one, but if you’re up for it, planning your outfit the day before cuts down the morning stress of flinging your clothes around your bedroom until you ultimately settle on jeans and a t-shirt.

Even if you don’t physically get the clothes out of your wardrobe, thinking up an outfit in your head can cut down the time you spend getting ready in the morning.

This also applies to packing your bag the night before. No more running around looking for your wallet or keys five minutes after you were supposed to leave. Grab your bag and go!

2. Lookin’ good

The best makeup is a good skincare routine.

Taking care of your skin means less faffing in the morning because you already feel like you look good.

If you’re an acne sufferer like me I know that it seems patronising when someone tells you to just take better care of your skin and your acne will go away. I don’t want to go on a preachy rant but acne doesn’t mean you aren’t looking good. As long as you take care of yourself, you look good. End of.

And if someone notices your acne or even worse, mentions it to you, find comfort in the fact that they suck and you rule.

Alongside the skincare method for a quick morning, don’t overcomplicate your morning skincare. Just a wash, moisturise, and SPF is all you need, and it takes less than 5 minutes.

3. Hairy situation

Bed head is a big problem for the time crunched people in the morning.

I personally, have embraced the ‘just ran through the hedges’ approach to my hairstyle, but that’s curly hair for you.

A hairband is your best friend if you are blessed with long hair. Ditch the slick back and just tie it up – bring back the Zoella messy bun I say.

Or, if you’re truly dedicated to the lazy lifestyle, consider having less hair. Sometimes it’s a necessary sacrifice for your sleep.

4. Breakfast of champions

I have a personal grudge against people that are so organised that they can wake up in the morning and make eggs and bacon or mash an avocado on toast. Mostly because I’m jealous.

But I have accepted that that’s simply not me. So what do I do instead?

Carbs. Big time.

Grab an oat based breakfast bar or any kind of ready made breakfast item and eat on the go. Bonus points if you’ve made a to-go breakfast the night before.

There have been countless times that I’ve been walking down the street eating a piece of toast and I promise you, no one cares that you’re eating your breakfast in public.

Any food item that you can shove in a bag and eat on the bus, in the car, on a train, or on foot is your new best friend.

5. The coffee problem

Coffee is a tough one.

If you’re financially able, grabbing a coffee from a shop at school or work is a time saver. But obviously it hurts the bank a little.

Having a cold coffee that you’ve made or bought and left in the fridge is a great way to save time. Just pour it into a to-go cup and get gone.

However, if you adhere to all these other time saving tips, then you might have enough time to make the coffee in the morning (hopefully).

Obviously fixing your sleep pattern and all that sound life advice that you hear all the time is a much better way to go about your morning. However, some of us are just frankly not going to do that.

Wake smarter not harder.
