Conte and Klopp face off at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side will be looking to turnaround their torrid league form on Sunday afternoon as they travel to London to face Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs came from two goals down to beat Bournemouth 3-2 at the Vitality Stadium in their previous league outing whilst The Reds fell to a 2-1 defeat against Leeds United at Anfield.
In his pre-match press conference, Spurs manager Antonio Conte said that Liverpool ‘can be a good example’ for his side as they look to challenge at the top of the table. The Italian admitted he has been ‘surprised’ by The Reds’ underwhelming start to the season but insists that Sunday’s opposition have ‘one of the best coaches in the world and fantastic players’ when asked about the match. Spurs’ 4-1 win at Wembley in October 2017 is their only victory against Liverpool in the past 21 meetings in all competitions.
Klopp has said that this weekend’s match is a ‘massive game’ for his side against a ‘well organised’ Tottenham outfit. However, the Liverpool boss has made it clear that they are ‘prepared to face a confident and strong opponent’ on Sunday, despite losing their last two matches in the Premier League. Last season’s runners-up find themselves nine points worse off than at this stage last campaign.
