Tottenham’s fortunes look to have changed. A player of his calibre, Harry Kane, leaving the side for Bayern Munich and manager Antonio Conte dismissed from the role. Ange Postecoglou has discovered a different type of Spurs that we know.

New tactics from the manager.

It is clear in the first few months of this season, Ange Postecoglou has an aura about him and his style of football. His never die attitude is what drives this team forward at times and it is very obvious that every single player involved believes in this motto. Antonio Conte was reported to have many small issues with his players and somewhat failed personally to encourage his side and get the players motivated and ready for their defensive minded tactics. Postecoglou has stamped this feeling out and this was extremely apparent in their loss to Chelsea this season where even though the two red cards should have destroyed the teams spirit, they kept going and his tactics did not change. High lines and runs in behind were still occurring, even though it was at times a four vs one counter attack against them.

New goalkeeper.

The former captain Lloris looks to be out of favour in the new managers side. With the signing of Vicario, Lloris has been exiled to the bench with him now looking for a move away. His replacement has taken the role on extremely well and looks an extremely strong keeper. Coming out for crosses, sweeping the backline and making top class saves- the Italian keeper is joint second for the most clean sheets in the premier league and has only conceded 17 goals this season. He also has the most keeper sweep outs this season (20), however this isn’t only down to the goalkeeper.

New centre back partnership

Van De Ven has easily slotted into the back four and established himself next to Christian Romero. The Dutch player came from Wolfsburg and has been a rock at times for the Spurs side. Although some fans seemed to feel he looked a bit shaky at times with an own goal against him in his first game, since then he has been the reason to why Spurs have only conceded 17 goals. The player is extremely fast and strong and very smart with his positioning. The defender is currently injured and it is clear as since his injury Spurs have conceded six goals in two and a half games.

James Maddison!

The former Leicester player has quite simply blown the fans away since his arrival. It was exclaimed that Harry Kane leaving would affect Maddison’s performance. Without a quality striker upfront, how can he perform well? Clearly this is not the case. Maddison is the leader of the team that drives the team forward, his creation and aero dynamics when on the ball are scary at times. Turning up in big games such as the North London derby will not do him any harm to thrive at Spurs.
