Hello everyone, my name is Liam Wetherfield and tonight I will be running you through all the action that is set to take place at the Jan Breydel Stadium in Brugge as Club Brugge take on reigning UEFA Europa League champions Atalanta in the 1st leg of the UEFA champions League knockout phase play-offs.
Ahead of kick-off we have received news of the official line-ups for both teams and they’re as follows;
FH:
1′ – We’re underway here in Bruges at the Jan Breydel Stadium as Club Brugge take on Atalanta in the 1st leg of the new UEFA Champions League knockout round play-offs.
7′ – Club Brugge have a great opportunity early on in this first half to go ahead as Christos Tzolis hits the Italian side on the counter-attack, but his shot is dealt with comfortably by Portuguese goalkeeper Rui Patricio.
12′ – Atalanta are still struggling to find their feet in this game as Club Brugge remain the side who have been more dominant in possession thus far.
15′ – GOAL – It’s Jutgla who puts his side ahead, following a brilliant pass back into the box from Chemsdine Talbi, the Spanish forward takes an excellent touch before striking the ball on the volley and firing it past Patricio and into the back of the net to put his side up 1-0.

26′ – It’s still Club Brugge who remain the side on top in this game as Atalanta have struggled to respond to the intensity the Belgian side have brought with them tonight, despite the two chances the reigning UEFA Europa League Champions have conjured up thus far in this first-half, both have ultimately been off-target.
30′ – Another great opportunity arises for Club Brugge to extend their lead in this game, as the ball falls brilliantly to exciting young full-back Maxime De Cuyper who thunders the ball towards Patricio’s goal, but his shot ultimately hits the side-netting.
37′ – There’s less than 10 minutes to go in this first-half and it still remains 1-0 to Club Brugge following a brilliant strike from Spanish forward Ferran Jutgla in the 15th minute.
41′ – GOAL – Despite largely being the lesser side in this first half, Croatian midfielder Mario Pasalic scores his 3rd goal of the competition to make it 1-1, as he gets his head on the end of a brilliant cross from Davide Zappacosta and fires the ball past Mignolet to equalise for his side.

It’s level here at the break between Club Brugge & Atalanta as both teams have found the back of the net throughout this first-half following goals from Ferran Jutgla & Mario Pasalic respectively.
SH:
46′ – We’re back underway here in the second-half of this 1st leg in the UEFA Champions League between Club Brugge & Atalanta, both teams will be looking to claim bragging rights heading into the 2nd leg as the scoreline sits at 1-1.
54′ – Maxime De Cuyper has a brilliant chance to put his side ahead early on in the second-half, as the ball falls to him on the edge of the box and despite a brilliant shot on goal, his attempt ultimately goes wide of Patricio’s net.
57′ – Talbi has an opportunity of his own to put Brugge ahead again in this game, but his shot ultimately goes wide.
62′ – It’s the first couple of changes in this game as Raoul Bellanova & Mario Pasalic are replaced by Juan Cuadrado & Lazar Samardzic respectively.
65′ – Juan Cuadrado already finds himself in and amongst the action, as he plays a brilliant ball into the box which falls to Mateo Retegui, however the Italian forward sees his shot go wide.
66′ – Mere seconds after Retegui’s chance, substitute Samardzic has an excellent opportunity of his own to put the Italians ahead, but his attempt also goes wide as the scoreline remains 1-1.
70′ – It’s another double substitution for Atalanta as Mateo Retegui & Stefan Posch are replaced by Marco Brescianini & Rafael Toloi.
71′ – It’s the first change of the game for the Belgians as Christos Tzolis is replaced by Gustaf Nilsson.
75′ – It remains 1-1 here in Bruges, as the winners of this tie across both legs will advance into the next stage of the competition where they will ultimately face either Lille or Aston Villa.
80′ – Just under 10 minutes remain in the 1st leg of the UEFA Champions League knockout round play-off between Club Brugge & Atalanta as the scoreline still remains 1-1.
83′ – A great opportunity falls to Charles De Ketelaere to put Atalanta ahead, but his shot is dealt with comfortably by fellow Belgian international Mignolet.
86′ – It’s a change for both sides in this game as Davide Zappacosta is replaced by Marco Palestra for Atalanta and Hugo Vetlesen & Hugo Siquet replace Ferran Jutgla & Chemsdine Talbi for Club Brugge respectively.
90′ – It’s a penalty for Club Brugge in the dying minutes of this game as Isak Hien catches Gustaf Nilsson with a trailing arm and after a check from VAR, the Belgians have the opportunity to see out this game.
90+3′ – GOAL – It’s Club Brugge who have put themselves ahead so late on in this tie as Gustaf Nilsson coverts from the spot and thunders the ball past Rui Patricio to put his side ahead 2-1.

It’s Club Brugge who have the advantage going into the second leg in Bergamo next week, following a controversial penalty from Gustaf Nilsson in the dying stages of the game, the Belgians ultimately end up victorious on the night beating the reigning UEFA Europa League champions 2-1 in Bruges.
