This will be a challenge for caretaker manager Robert Page who will take charge over this friendly, following current boss Ryan Giggs arrest earlier this month. Wale’s face two Nations League games in the days after Thursday, Ireland on Sunday and Finland next Wednesday.
The sides have played once before in 2003 with the game finishing 2–0 in California. It was during when Landon Donovan was flourishing as a strong prospect for the States, this time perhaps Christian Pulisic will be able to emulate his success.
Both teams will be looking to qualify for the scheduled 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Each side failed to qualify for Russia in 2018, but the United States are far more acquainted with the tournament having made it to seven of the last eight.
This game was scheduled for earlier this year, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it will commence Thursday night GMT.
